2015年（平成27年）1月6日、長年見たかった東京消防出初式を見に行きました。出初式は東京都江東区有明の東京ビッグサイトで開催されました。その模様はNHK総合テレビで11時05分から11時45分まで放映されました。
Finally, I went to see Dezome-shiki by the Tokyo Fire Department, which I had always wanted to see, on January 6th in 2015 (Heisei 27th yr). It was held at Tokyo Big Sight in Ariake, Koto Ward, Tokyo and was broadcast by NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster, from 11:05 to 11:45 am.
開式の30分前に東京ビッグサイトに到着しましたが、駐車場から会場まで歩いて15分くらいかかり、会場に着いた時は既に空席はなくなっていました。幸い見やすい立見席を確保できたので、張り切ってカメラを構えました。
I arrived at Tokyo Big Sight 30 minutes before the opening, but it was about a 15-minute walk from the parking lot to the grounds, and all the seats were already occupied. Fortunately, I found good standing room and excitedly held my camera.
上質な紙で全面カラーのパンフレットが配られました。以下がその中に記載されているプログラムです。
They distributed full-color paper pamphlets of very fine quality. The following is the program that was listed in the pamphlet.

出初式がオープニングパレード、開式、国旗掲揚で始まりました。
Dezome-shiki started with the opening parade, the opening ceremony and the national flag raising.

大江秀敏消防総監が消防士に訓示を垂れました。舛添要一東京都知事が告辞を述べました。そして来賓の二之湯智（にのゆさとし）総務副大臣、高島直樹東京都議会議長、秋元敏文日本消防協会会長、沖山仁東京都消防協会会長によって祝辞が述べられました。私の位置からは直に見ることができませんでしたが、近くに車両大型モニターがあったのでよく見えました。
Hidetoshi Ohe, the Superintendent General of the Tokyo Fire Department, gave the firefighters instructions. Yoichi Masuzoe, the Governor of Tokyo, addressed them. The following guests delivered congratulatory addresses; Satoshi Ninoyu, the Senior Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, Naoki Takashima, the President of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, Toshifumi Akimoto, the Chairperson of Japan Firefighters Association and Hitoshi Okiyama, the Chairperson of Tokyo Firefighters Association. I could not see them directly from my place, but I could clearly see them on the big monitor on the truck nearby.

消防隊員全員で東京消防歌を斉唱しました。歌詞はモニターやパンフレットで見ることができました。その後オープンカーに乗って来賓の方々が退場しました。昨年活躍した消防士や関係者が表彰されました。
制服を着た音楽隊は凛々しく、赤い制服を着たカラーガーズは華やかでした。
After the firefighters sang in union the Tokyo Fire Department Song (the words of which were shown on the monitor and in the pamphlet), the governor and the guests left in open cars. The firefighters and people concerned with firefighting, who contributed greatly while on duty in the previous year, were commended. The brass band in its uniforms looked dignified and the color guard in its red uniform was gorgeous.

消防学校の学生により小隊操練が行われました。小隊操練とは整然と隊を組み、指揮者に従い足並みを揃えて行進、停止、方向転換します。大勢で息を合わせる訓練は集団行動である消防活動の基礎になります。規則正しく、堂々とした足並みを見ながら、どれほどの時間を厳しい訓練に耐えたのかなと思いました。
The performance of Shotai-soren, company foot drill, was given by the students of the fire academy.
Shotai-soren is a term referring to foot drill in which members of a platoon march, halt and change direction to words of command from their commanders. I wondered how long they spent enduring strict drills while I was watching them walk with regular and stately steps.

消防士だけでなく、様々な団体がパレードを行いました。こんなに多くの消防に関する団体が有ることを初めて知りました。私が最も興味を持ったのは消防犬です。よく訓練されているようで、多くの人や大音響に臆することも無く足並みを揃えて勇敢に行進していました。
Many groups besides firefighters paraded. I did not know that there were so many groups concerned with firefighting. I was most interested in the firefighting dogs. They were well-trained, so they marched bravely in step with the participants without flinching among the many people and heavy sounds.
東京消防庁マスコットのキュータも消防少年団と一緒に行進しました。キュータは「119」、「救助」、「救急」、「レスキュー」、「緊急」の消防に関する「キュー」の音と、「多くの人を助ける」の「タ」を合わせて名付けられました。
The mascot of the Tokyo Fire Department, Kyuta, marched together with the Junior Firefighters. Kyuta was named after a combination of ‘kyu’ sound of ‘119 ichi-ichi-kyu’ (an emergency call number), ‘Kyujo (aid)’, ‘Kyukyu (emergency)’, ‘Resukyu (rescue)’ and ‘Kinkyu (urgency)’ and ‘ta’ sound from ‘Ooku no hito wo tasukeru’ (to help many people).
キュータの赤いスーツは消防服のイメージで胸には消防への通報電話番号119が描かれています。消火用水をイメージした青いヘルメットには、危険を察知する黄色い2本のアンテナが付いています。
Kyuta wears a red suit with the image of a firefighter’s uniform and an emergency call number 119 is on his chest. He also wears a blue helmet with the image of water for fire extinguishing and he can sense danger using two yellow antennas on the helmet.

最新技術の消防車、はしご車、ポンプ車のパレードが始まると、それまで静かだった男性の観客が大興奮していました。役割により様々な消防車があることが分かりました。スピーチを終えたスペシャルゲストの元関取の舞の海秀平さんと元フジテレビのアナウンサーの有賀さつきさんも、車に乗ってパレードに参加しました。
Many of the male audience members got excited when the state-of-the-art fire engines, ladder trucks and fire pumpers began parading, though they were quiet until that time. I learned about various fire engines with each role. After making speeches, special guests Shuhei Maenoumi (a former Sumo wrestler) and Satsuki Ariga (a former announcer of Fuji Television) joined the parade in open cars.

出初式で私が最も楽しみにしていたのは、江戸消防記念会による江戸時代の火消しの衣装をまとったはしごのり演技です。風が強いのではしごが揺れてひやひやしましたが、無事に様々な技を披露してくれました。
What I was most looking forward to was the performance of the ladder stuns by men in the costume of firemen of the Edo Period from the Edo Firemanship Preservation Association. I was afraid about the performance on the shaking ladders because of the strong wind but they magnificently showed us various acrobatic stuns.

東京直下型大地震を想定して消火や救助の大規模なデモンストレーションが行われました。ポンプ車、はしご車、消防ヘリコプター、消防艇等も参加して、本番さながらの迫力でした。韓国のレスキュー隊員3名も参加しました。
A large-scale firefighting and rescue drill was held as though a great earthquake had occurred directly underneath Tokyo. Their demonstration with fire pumpers, fire ladder trucks, fire helicopters and fireboats had tremendous impact as though it had happened for real. Three rescue members from Korea also participated in this drill.

ずらりと並んだはしご車のはしごを高く伸ばして、その上端から色とりどりの旗をひらめかせました。
消防艇から豪快に一斉放水が行われました。国旗降納に続き短い閉式があり、全ての屋外での催しが終わりました。参加した消防士や消防関係者は約3000人で、消防車両、消防ヘリコプター、消防艇は合計約150台でした。
Colorful flags fluttered in the wind from the top of the ladders which were highly extended from the fire engines in a row. Fireboats powerfully shot water simultaneously. All the programs outside were over after the national flag lowering and the closing ceremony. This Dezome-shiki consisted of about 3000 firefighters and people concerned and 150 fire engines, fire helicopters and fireboats in total.
屋内のステージでは再びはしご乗りの演技と、素晴らしい木遣り歌が披露されていました。最後は会長の挨拶と手締めで終わりました。
The ladder stunts and marvelous Kiyari songs were performed again on the stage inside. At the end the president made an address and closed with Tejime (rhythmical and union hand-clapping).
ギネス記録も持つ日本のけん玉の第一人者である、プロのけん玉師伊藤佑介さんの誰も真似することができない技に驚きました。パフォーマンスの後の子供達にけん玉講座を開きました。
I was surprised to see incomparable skills of Yusuke Ito who is a Guinness holder and one of the best professional Kendama players. After his performance, he taught children how to do Kendama.
同じステージでは防災アイドル「さんみゅ～」の歌と踊り、山岳救援隊トークショー、そして東京消防音楽隊とカラーガーズ隊による新春コンサートが行われました。
Other performances were held on the stage such as a song and dance show by disaster prevention idols ‘Sanmyu ～’, a talk show by the mountain rescue team and a New Year concert by TFD Band and Color Guard.
2台の起震車では震度7の地震体験ができました。建物の中にははしご車、消防車、救急車などがありました。抽選で240組がはしご車搭乗体験、100組が消防車両乗車体験をすることができました。
People experienced simulated earthquakes measuring a seismic intensity of 7 on the Japanese scale on two earthquake simulation vehicles. There were ladder trucks, fire engines and ambulances indoors. After winning the lotteries, 240 pairs of individuals could experience test-rides for ladder trucks and 100 pairs for fire engines.
風船を使ったパフォーマンス、書き初め、消防車や救急車の子供用ミニカーなども楽しんでいました。休憩エリアでは軽食や飲み物、売店では消防関係のグッズが売られていました。出初式限定商品に人気が集まっていました。
People also enjoyed the performance with balloons, Kakizome (the first calligraphy written on New Year’s Day) and mini fire engines and ambulances for children. Light meals and drinks were sold in the rest area and items concerning firefighting were sold in the stands. People seemed to be most interested in the products limited to this Dezome-shiki.
