\nThe origin of Keiro-no-hi is \u201cToshiyori-no-hi\u201d (Elderly People\u2019s Day), which started in Nomatani Village, Taka County, Hyogo Prefecture in 1947 (Showa 22nd yr).<\/p>\n

\u25c6\u6751\u9577\u306f\u6226\u4e89\u3067\u4eba\u3005\u304c\u8352\u3093\u3067\u3001\u5f90\u3005\u306b\u304a\u5e74\u5bc4\u308a\u3092\u5927\u5207\u306b\u3057\u306a\u304f\u306a\u3063\u305f\u3053\u3068\u306b\u5fc3\u3092\u75db\u3081\u3001\u300c\u3068\u3057\u3088\u308a\u306e\u65e5\u300d\u3092\u63d0\u5531\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nThe chief of the village was disturbed that people had gradually stopped respecting the aged, because the war made people degenerate; therefore, he advocated \u201cToshiyori-no-hi\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u25c6\u6c17\u5019\u306e\u826f\u3044\u8fb2\u9591\u671f\u306e9\u670815\u65e5\u306b\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nThe date was established on September 15th because the climate was mild and it was in the farmer\u2019s off-season.<\/p>\n

\n“Toshiyori-no-hi” spread to all of Hyogo Prefecture, and finally throughout Japan.<\/p>\n

\u25c61966\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c41\u5e74\uff09\u306b\u306f\u305d\u306e\u65e5\u306f\u656c\u8001\u306e\u65e5\u3068\u540d\u524d\u3092\u6539\u3081\u3001\u56fd\u6c11\u306e\u4f11\u65e5\u3068\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nIn 1966 (Showa 41st yr), the day was established as a national holiday under the new name of Keiro-no-hi, Respect for the Aged Day.<\/p>\n

\u25c62000\u5e74\uff08\u5e73\u621012\u5e74\uff09\u306b\u5236\u5b9a\u3055\u308c\u305f\u30cf\u30c3\u30d4\u30fc\u30de\u30f3\u30c7\u30fc\u3068\u3044\u3046\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u6cd5\u5f8b\u306b\u3088\u308a\u3001\u656c\u8001\u306e\u65e5\u306f9\u6708\u306e\u7b2c3\u6708\u66dc\u65e5\u306b\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nIn 2000 (Heisei 12th yr), Happy Monday, a new law was designated, and Keiro-no-hi was moved to the third Monday of September.<\/p>\n
