\/>\nToji is the 22nd period of Niju-shi-sekki: 24 seasonal divisions of a year which starts on Risshun (the first day of spring by the lunar calendar).<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u3053\u306e\u8003\u3048\u306f\u65e7\u66a6\u3068\u5b9f\u969b\u306e\u5b63\u7bc0\u306e\u305a\u308c\u3092\u57cb\u3081\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306b\u4e2d\u56fd\u3067\u751f\u307e\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<br \/>\nThis idea comes from China so as to bridge the gap between the lunar calendar and the actual seasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u51ac\u81f3\u306b\u592a\u967d\u306f\u4e00\u5e74\u4e2d\u3067\u6700\u3082\u5357\u306b\u4f4d\u7f6e\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nOn the day of Toji, the sun is located in the \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u3053\u306e\u65e5\u3001\u5317\u534a\u7403\u3067\u306f\u592a\u967d\u306e\u9ad8\u3055\u304c\u4e00\u5e74\u4e2d\u3067\u6700\u3082\u4f4e\u304f\u3001\u663c\u304c\u6700\u3082\u77ed\u304f\u3001\u591c\u304c\u6700\u3082\u9577\u304f\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nOn this day in the Northern Hemisphere, the height of the sun is at its lowest, the day is the shortest, and the night is the longest of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u4e2d\u56fd\u3067\u306f\u53e4\u4ee3\u3088\u308a\u51ac\u81f3\u306f\u66a6\u306e\u59cb\u307e\u308a\u3068\u3057\u3066\u91cd\u5927\u306a\u610f\u5473\u3092\u6301\u3061\u3001\u53b3\u7c9b\u306a\u5100\u5f0f\u304c\u884c\u308f\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<br \/>\nIn ancient China, Toji was very significant as the beginning of the calendar, and solemn ceremonies were held.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u305d\u308c\u304c\u4e2d\u4e16\u306b\u65e5\u672c\u306e\u5bae\u4e2d\u3078\u4f1d\u308f\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<br \/>\nIt was introduced to the Japanese Court in the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u51ac\u81f3\u306f\u666e\u901a12\u670822\u65e5\u304b23\u65e5\u9803\u3067\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nToji is usually on or around December 22nd or 23rd.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c619\u5e74\u306b\u4e00\u5ea6\u65e7\u66a6\u306e11\u67081\u65e5\u306b\u306a\u308a\u3001\u3053\u308c\u3092\u6714\u65e6\u51ac\u81f3\uff08\u3055\u304f\u305f\u3093\u3068\u3046\u3058\uff09\u3068\u547c\u3073\u3001\u7279\u5225\u5927\u304d\u306a\u795d\u8cc0\u884c\u4e8b\u304c\u884c\u308f\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nOnce every 19 years, Toji falls on November 1st in the lunar calendar, and this Toji is called Sakutan-toji in which an especial big celebration ceremony is held.<\/p>\n<p><a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u51ac\u81f3\u306b\u304b\u307c\u3061\u3083\u3092\u98df\u3079\u308b\u3068\u75c5\u6c17\u306b\u306a\u3089\u306a\u3044\u3068\u3044\u3046\u53e4\u304f\u304b\u3089\u306e\u8a00\u3044\u4f1d\u3048\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nIt has been said since old times that eating pumpkin on the day of Toji prevents us from catching illness.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u304b\u307c\u3061\u3083\u306b\u306f\u591a\u304f\u306e\u30ab\u30ed\u30c1\u30f3\u3084\u30d3\u30bf\u30df\u30f3\u304c\u542b\u307e\u308c\u308b\u306e\u3067\u5065\u5eb7\u306b\u826f\u3044\u98df\u3079\u7269\u3067\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nPumpkins are a healthy food because they contain a lot of carotene and vitamins.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/azuregns.com\/year\/?attachment_id=2949\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2949\"><img reddish-brown beans) is another custom on Toji.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u5c0f\u8c46\u7ca5\u3084\u3001\u5c0f\u8c46\u3068\u304b\u307c\u3061\u3083\u3092\u4e00\u7dd2\u306b\u91a4\u6cb9\u3068\u7802\u7cd6\u3067\u716e\u305f\u3082\u306e\u304c\u3088\u304f\u98df\u3079\u3089\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nPeople often eat azuki-gayu (rice porridge with azuki beans) and\/or boiled azuki beans and pumpkins seasoned with soy sauce and sugar.<\/p>\n<p><a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u305d\u3057\u3066\u307e\u305f\u3001\u300c\u3093\u300d\u304c\u4ed8\u304f\u540d\u524d\u306e\u98df\u54c1\u3092\u98df\u3079\u308b\u3068\u7e01\u8d77\u304c\u826f\u3044\u3068\u3055\u308c\u3001\u305d\u306e\u7406\u7531\u306b\u306f\u8af8\u8aac\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nFoods whose names contain \u201c\u3093 (n)\u201d are also regarded as foods which bring good luck, and there were some theories about its reason.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u305d\u306e\u4e00\u3064\u306f\u300c\u3093\u300d\u306f\u3044\u308d\u306f\u6b4c\u306e\u6700\u5f8c\u306e\u6587\u5b57\u3067\u3001\u51ac\u304c\u7d42\u308f\u308a\u6625\u306e\u8a2a\u308c\u3092\u8c61\u5fb4\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nOne of the theories is that \u201c\u3093 (n)\u201d is the final letter of the Japanese \u201cI-ro-ha\u201d alphabet and symbolizes the end of winter and the coming of spring.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u4ed6\u306e\u7bc0\u3067\u306f\u3001\u300c\u3093\u300d\u306f\u300c\u3046\u3093\uff08\u904b\uff09\u300d\u3068\u97f3\u304c\u4f3c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3001\u300c\u3093\u300d\u304c\u4ed8\u304f\u540d\u524d\u306e\u98df\u54c1\u306f\u904b\u304c\u826f\u3044\u3068\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nAnother theory is that \u201c\u3093 (n)\u201d sounds like \u201c\u3046\u3093 (un)\u201d \u2013 the Japanese word for lucky, and so the names of foods containing this sound are said to be lucky.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u4ee3\u8868\u7684\u306a\u3082\u306e\u304c\u5357\u74dc\uff08\u306a\u3093\u304d\u3093\uff09\u3001\u84ee\u6839\u3001\u4eba\u53c2\u3001\u9280\u674f\u3001\u91d1\u67d1\u3001\u5bd2\u5929\u3001\u9942\u98e9\u3067\u3001\u3053\u308c\u3089\u306f\u51ac\u81f3\u306e\u4e03\u7a2e\uff08\u306a\u306a\u304f\u3055\uff09\u3068\u547c\u3070\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nThe representative ingredients, known as Toji-no-nana-kusa (the seven ingredients for the Winter Solstice), are nankin (pumpkin, also called kabocha), renkon (lotus root), ninjin (carrot), ginnan (ginkgo nut), kinkan (kumquat), kanten (agar) and udon (Japanese noodle made from flour).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/azuregns.com\/year\/?attachment_id=2948\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2948\"><img (gelatinous food made from the starch of konnyaku potato) is very popular.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6\u3053\u3093\u306b\u3083\u304f\u306f\u300c\u7802\u6255\u3044\u300d\u3068\u547c\u3070\u308c\u3001\u4f53\u306e\u6bd2\u3092\u5916\u306b\u51fa\u3059\u3068\u8a00\u308f\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nKonnyaku is called &#8220;Suna-harai&#8221; (sweeping the sand away) because it is said to take poison out of the body.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/azuregns.com\/year\/?attachment_id=2946\"
