\nAccording to the solar calendar, September 1st is the 210th day after Risshun; the first day of spring.<\/p>\n

\nTraditionally, this day has been called \u2018Nihyaku-toka\u2019, the start of the typhoon season.<\/p>\n

\nThe other reason why September 1st was chosen is the Great Kanto Earthquake.<\/p>\n

\u25c61923\u5e74\uff08\u5927\u6b6312\u5e74\uff099\u67081\u65e5\u5348\u524d11\u664258\u5206\u3001\u65e5\u672c\u306e\u4e2d\u5fc3\u5730\u3067\u3042\u308b\u95a2\u6771\u304c\u30de\u30b0\u30cb\u30c1\u30e5\u30fc\u30c97.9\u306e\u5730\u9707\u306b\u898b\u821e\u308f\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nAt 11:58 am, September 1st, 1923 (Taisho 12th yr), the center of Japan, the Kanto area, was struck by a great earthquake of magnitude 7.9.<\/p>\n
