\n\u201cHa-to-kuchi-no-kenko-shukan\u201d (the Week concerning the Promotion of Dental and Oral Health) is held from June 4th to 10th every year by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Japan Dental Association and the Japanese Association of School Dentists.<\/p>\n

\nThe purpose of this week is dissemination and increasing awareness with regard to the proper knowledge concerning dental and oral health, and also to contribute to maintain and promote people\u2019s health with the act of prolonging the lifespan of people\u2019s teeth through early detection and treatment.<\/p>\n

\u25c61928\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c3\u5e74\uff09\u304b\u30891938\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c13\u5e74\uff09\u307e\u3067\u65e5\u672c\u6b6f\u79d1\u533b\u5e2b\u4f1a\u304c\u30016\uff08\u3080\uff094\uff08\u3057\uff09\u306b\u3061\u306a\u3093\u30676\u67084\u65e5\u306b\u300c\u866b\u6b6f\u4e88\u9632\u30c7\u30fc\u300d\u3092\u4e3b\u50ac\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nFrom 1928 (Showa 3rd yr) to 1938 (Showa 13th yr), the Japan Dental Association established June 4th as \u201cMushi-ba-yobo-dei\u201d (Cavity Prevention Day) from the pun of 6 (\u201cmu\u201d in Japanese) and 4 (\u201cshi\u201d in Japanese).<\/p>\n

\u25c61939\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c14\u5e74\uff09\u306b\u300c\u8b77\u6b6f\u65e5\u300d\u306b\u5909\u66f4\u3055\u308c\u30011942\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c17\u5e74\uff09\u306b\u306f\u300c\u5065\u6c11\u30e0\u30b7\u6b6f\u4e88\u9632\u904b\u52d5\u300d\u306b\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nIn 1939 (Show 14th yr), it was changed to \u201cGoshi-bi\u201d and then in 1942 (Showa 17th), it became \u201cKenmin-mushiba-yobo-undo\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u25c6\u7b2c\u4e8c\u6b21\u4e16\u754c\u5927\u6226\u304c\u6fc0\u5316\u3057\u305f1943\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c18\u5e74\uff09\u304b\u3089\u6226\u5f8c\u306e\u6df7\u4e71\u671f\u306e1947\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c22\u5e74\uff09\u307e\u3067\u306f\u4e2d\u6b62\u306b\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nIt was discontinued from 1943 (Showa 18th yr) at the peak of World War ll to 1947 (Showa 22nd) during the chaotic time after the war.<\/p>\n

\nIn 1949 (Showa 24th yr), it was restored as \u201cKoku-eisei-shukan\u201d (the Oral Hygiene Week).<\/p>\n

\u25c61952\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c27\u5e74\uff09\u306b\u300c\u53e3\u8154\u885b\u751f\u5f37\u8abf\u904b\u52d5\u300d\u306b\u30011956\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c31\u5e74\uff09\u306b\u518d\u5ea6\u300c\u53e3\u8154\u885b\u751f\u9031\u9593\u300d\u306b\u540d\u79f0\u3092\u5909\u66f4\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nIn 1952 (Showa 27th yr), its name was changed to \u201cKoku-eisei-kyocho-undo\u201d (the Oral Hygiene Emphasis Campaign), and in 1956 (Showa 31st), it returned again to \u201cKoku-eisei-shukan\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u25c61958\u5e74\uff08\u662d\u548c33\u5e74\uff09\u304b\u30892012\u5e74\uff08\u5e73\u621024\u5e74\uff09\u307e\u3067\u300c\u6b6f\u306e\u885b\u751f\u9031\u9593\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u540d\u79f0\u3067\u3057\u305f\u304c\u30012013\u5e74\uff08\u5e73\u621025\u5e74\uff09\u304b\u3089\u300c\u6b6f\u3068\u53e3\u306e\u5065\u5eb7\u9031\u9593\u300d\u3068\u547c\u3070\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002
\nFrom 1958 (Showa 33rd) to 2012 (Heisei 24th), it was called \u201cHa-no-eisei-shukan\u201d (the Week concerning the Promotion of Dental Health) and since 2013 (Heisei 25th yr), it has been called \u201cHa-to-kuchi-no-kenko-shukan\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u25c6\u671f\u9593\u4e2d\u306f\u5404\u5730\u306e\u6b6f\u79d1\u533b\u5e2b\u4f1a\u4e3b\u50ac\u3067\u3001\u3080\u3057\u6b6f\u4e88\u9632\u306e\u305f\u3081\u306e\u6b6f\u78e8\u304d\u6559\u5ba4\u3001\u6b6f\u306e\u30b3\u30f3\u30c6\u30b9\u30c8\u3001\u6b6f\u306b\u826f\u3044\u6599\u7406\u306e\u8a66\u98df\u3001\u6b6f\u4e26\u3073\u3084\u5165\u308c\u6b6f\u76f8\u8ac7\u3001\u30c8\u30fc\u30af\u30b7\u30e7\u30fc\u306a\u3069\u3001\u3055\u307e\u3056\u307e\u30a4\u30d9\u30f3\u30c8\u304c\u884c\u308f\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002
\nDuring the week, various events are held such as brushing lessons for the prevention of tooth decay, dental contests, testing of dental effective food, consultation meetings for sets of teeth or artificial teeth and talk shows by the Dental Associations all around Japan.<\/p>\n

\nEvery year, the Japan Dental Association and the Japan Dentifrice Manufactures Association jointly create posters to distribute to hospitals, public health centers, public offices and schools.<\/p>\n

\nThe Japan Dental Association thought more campaign days were necessary to enforce the enlightenment activities besides \u201cHa-to-kuchi-no-kenko-shukan\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u25c6\u305d\u3053\u30671993\u5e74(\u5e73\u62105\u5e74)\u3001\u300c\u3088(4)\u3044(1)\u6b6f(8)\u300d\u306e\u8a9e\u5442\u5408\u305b\u3067\u30014\u670818\u65e5\u3092\u300c\u3088\u3044\u6b6f\u306e\u65e5\u300d\u3001\u300c11\uff08\u3044\u3044\uff098\uff08\u6b6f\uff09\u300d\u306e\u8a9e\u5442\u5408\u308f\u305b\u3067\u300111\u67088\u65e5\u3092\u300c\u3044\u3044\u6b6f\u306e\u65e5\u300d\u306b\u5236\u5b9a\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002
\nTherefore, in 1993 (Heisei 5th yr), \u201cYoi-ha-no-hi\u201d (the Day for Good Teeth) was established on April 18th through play on words of 4 (\u201cyo\u201d in Japanese), 1 (\u201ci\u201d in Japanese) and 8 (\u201cha\u201d in Japanese), and \u201cIi-ha-no-hi\u201d was established on November 8th through play on words of 11 (\u201cii\u201d in Japanese) and 8 (\u201cha\u201d in Japanese).<\/p>\n
